Shenoy Analytics has prepared some case studies to showcase our most recent work. In addition, the SA team has worked on various projects worldwide for different firms and clients.

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport COVID-19 Overlay for Forecasting Models
Problem: Lower traffic levels resulting from the COVID crisis provided DFW airport with the opportunity to complete maintenance, repairs, and construction of infrastructure. To determine the impacts under construction conditions, vehicular traffic on the airport access roadways needed to be predicted under COVID conditions.
Solution: A form of Machine Learning which uses the general principles of Boosted Decision Tree Regression was used. Data sets: Passenger data pre-COVID and during COVID; TSA throughout dataset; and R values1 and Inference R value projections from an ensemble of published SEIR2 Epidemiology Models.

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport Traffic Microsimulation Model
Problem: DFW International Airport sought a solution to understand if there are any adverse impacts of the growth of the airport on its terminal access roadways and curbsides and help in proactively resolving any hot spots.
Solution: A traffic microsimulation model was created using PTV VISSIM, a commercially available microsimulation software widely used in the industry. The model inputs were generated using a Trip model which leverages a series of mathematical relationships between passengers, vehicles, mode shares, occupancies, as well as passenger and vehicle transactional behavior to forecast future traffic volumes.
Other Projects*
NEW INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, MEXICO CITY, MEXICO: MASTER PLAN UPDATE
Provided advisory support to the Master Architect for future-proofing facilities such as the Ground Transportation Center (GTC), parking facilities, and overall access to the terminals. Informed the design of parking facilities to be flexible for alternative use in the event the Transportation Network Companies’ (TNC’s) or autonomous vehicles negatively impact parking demand. As part of the Masterplan update, evaluated the current design of all landside facilities, including curbsides, access roadways, public parking, employee parking, and interchanges, and recommended alternatives to meet the projected demand. Work involved determining the facility requirements for all terminal access roadways, parking products, and curbsides, Ground Transportation Center (GTC) design evaluation, mode allocations, future-mode shift determination, and access segregations. Used a mix of simulation and stochastic modeling to complete the evaluations.
Role: Principal Planner and Project Manager
Completion Date: December 2018
TULSA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, TULSA, OK: LANDSIDE MASTERPLAN
Led development of near-term and medium-term solutions for the Tulsa Airport Improvement Trust (TAIT) and assessed long-term needs for improvements to landside and ground transportation infrastructure. Maximized infrastructure capabilities to enhance non-aeronautical revenue. Initially, provided recommendations for balancing demand and available capacity of roadways and curbsides; later, emphasized parking improvements, including valet and overall roadway access. Planned for new curbside and roadway capacity based on forecasted needs and redevelopment of TAIT-owned land to generate greater revenues. Recommended modernizing projects such as levying the Commercial Vehicle Fee (CVF), providing an Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI) system, and creating prospective revenue-generating opportunities by leveraging existing facilities or with minimal capital improvement. Provided benchmarking of rates and charges for levying the (CVF) and analyzed the entire landside infrastructure for efficiency.
Role: Principal Planner and Project Manager
Completion Date: November 2018
DANIEL ODUBER QUIROS INT AIRPORT, LIBERIA, COSTA RICA: GTC DESIGN, NON-AERONAUTICAL REVENUE STUDY
Principle planner: Improved vehicular flows and commercial vehicle control to reduce curbside congestion; planned Ground Transportation Center (GTC) and CRCF. Provided benchmarking of commercial vehicle user fees and recommendations for the fee structure.
Role: Principal Planner and Project Manager
Completion Date: November 2018
LOS ANGELES WORLD AIRPORTS, LOS ANGELES, CA: LANDSIDE ACCESS MODERNIZATION PROGRAM (LAMP)
Planned LAX airport access improvement by relocating traffic from congested CTA to new off-airport facilities such as Intermodal Transportation Centers, Consolidated Rental Car Facility, and a possible passenger processor. Connectivity between the Central Terminal Area (CTA) of the airport and off-airport facilities to be provided using a landside Automated People Mover. Responsible for all landside analysis and supported program manager with ad-hoc analysis. Advised the determination of preferred alternatives for multi-million-dollar infrastructure projects, led the determination of RFP requirements for outsourcing busing at LAX, and provided technical support on other projects as needed.
Role: Principal Planner
Completion Date: December 2017
